Here are some of my favorite gestures from this year so far. Yeah, a lot- I know, but 1) consider how many BAD ones I drew to get this many that I liked! and 2) I figure I don't post a lot here, so I should post a lot of something... yeah... Enjoy?

Pipeline test

How the heck does ROMANIA beat out the UK for more viewers of my blog?! WHAT THE-?!?! Who's in ROMANIA?!

Anyway... *ahem* Here is a blog-exclusive: my pipeline test for my third year film. I worked on this basically all weekend. And after all was said and done, and even after Steve Hickner (Dreamworks Animation director and producer) complimented it, I have discovered that it is EXACTLY what I DON'T want my finished film to look like...

Suck...

Regardless, here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Experimental Animation- My Old Man

So, I still don't have a Greek name for this old guy, but he's growing on me. For my 2D Animation class this week, we were supposed to do 10 seconds of "experimental animation" of one of our characters from our film, but NOT a scene from our film. The purpose of the experiment was to discover how our character works and find any flaws that might exist in the character design. I dunno if I found any "flaws" per se, but I did find that I am going to have a hell of a time with this guy's HANDS! I've never done hands quite like this before, and technically, they are HUUUUUUUGE! I have to move the arms more to get the hands out of the way!

Old Man

(It is just a bit over 11 seconds, I think.) ENJOY!

Post-Glen Keane

So, Glen Keane showed a quote tonight that really clung to me. I actually found it online! Woot!

The Sketch Hunter

"The sketch hunter moves through life as he finds it, not passing negligently the things he loves, but stopping know them and to note them down in the shorthand of his sketchbook....He is looking for what he loves, he tries to capture it. It's found anywhere, everywhere. Those who are not hunters do not see these things. The hunter is learning to see and to understand- to enjoy."
- Robert Henri

I feel like this. This speaks to me.

2D Character Animation- 3 Escalating

Assignment this week (or was it last week?) was to draw this character our teacher, James Lopez gave us, with three states of being, escalating in intensity. (Example: Prosperous, Rich, Loaded) I had to draw him so many times just to be able to draw him "on model". This is something I really struggle with and would like to get better at. So here are my three.

Can you guess all three?

By the way... there is a Star Wars reference in here somewhere, I can feel it!
