Summer work Pt.2

So, I have been writing almost every day this summer.  If I were a better person, I would be able to say every day, but I can't.  The yucky part is that- for all the work I've done, I can't show you guys.  Writing is just not the same as pretty pictures, is it?

I missed going to the zoo yesterday because of work.  It sucks, but- "gotta have goals", right?  XD  (Thank you, Pretty Woman for supplying me with life advice!)  But I still hope to go at some point this summer- hopefully repeatedly.

Worked a bit on cleaning up my Star Wars boards last night.  (I might have finished too, if it weren't for friends and a distraction called Team Fortress....)  I have about half the scene done, I think.  I will try to head to school tomorrow to do some more.  Unfortunately, the scanners will be going down tonight, so no updates on the blog until the labs open up again.  Sorry guys- I know you were all waiting with baited breathe for that....

Which is why you are all blue in the face now.....

And dead....

Which is why no one ever comments....  XD  I crack myself up....  *sigh*

Summer work Pt.1

Guess what I am working on/finishing!!!

I am up to 147 boards now (up from 146 when I realized that I had two #89's....)
I hope to finish this up and scan them in so I can time them out to the actual film.  The ultimate goal will be for everyone to be able to "see" the film in an animatic (animated storyboard) form, complete with dialogue, soundtrack, and SFX.

Admit it- YOU wanna see it just as bad as I do!

Also, I feel the need to note: This is NOT just me being a supreme-geek...  I am learning a lot about the choices the director made in this film, but also, I am noticing layout, lighting, cuts, and how the eyes lead this scene so we know where we are.  See?!  Film school is teachin' me stuff!  <3

Call Me Maybe- Animator-style!

Okay, so has anyone else been seeing these Call Me Maybe van videos?

Harvard Baseball- Call Me Maybe

I saw that first one and thought it was sort of funny....  A little repetitive, but whatever...  Choreography is hard...  especially for guys who don't dance or whatever.  But then I saw the "response" video of a girls' rowing team doing a better job and it got me to thinking....

Couldn't CalArts Character Animation do one of these?  But WAAAAY more funny?

For instance, the teams start with the song and then break into the dance.  Well, what if Character started listening to her song, but we all realized that we weren't "cool" enough to know the lyrics and stuff?  Then we find a Disney song and all hell breaks loose or something?  I haven't picked a song yet- there are so many good ones!- but I think we could come up with some elaborate choreography and film this on some field trip next year?  I drive the van, so I can't dance, but this would seriously be some fun!  The only thing is: we would need to plan who was going in the van way in advance and learn the dance...  Oh....  and we need a field trip to go on!  haha!

I want to do this.  Anyone up for it?
