The First Letter

The first official letter came today. My heart aches for the recipient. I know her pain. I only wish I could somehow lessen it.

No one deserves that feeling of rejection.

It only brings the possibility of my own arriving that much closer. The wait, the pain, the pressure, the stress- it's all real now. I've avoided it for months. It finally caught up with all of us.

Letters?! But it's only February!

In the past week, information has been sifting in...

One current CharAnim student at CalArts mentioned that her teacher left during class to go review portfolios, and unconfirmed reports suggest that someone has already been accepted into the program, this just the end of February. It's not even March yet!

Is it possible their job was not as difficult this year? I may be receiving a letter sooner rather than later... I don't know if I was prepped to find out this early!

Here we go guys. My portfolio (in order) as presented.

Usps.com confirms: My portfolio was delivered yesterday at CalArts!

All is done. The application is in, the fee is paid, the portfolio is shipped. I'm honestly glad it is over. Now I can do OTHER things. I'll still keep up with my art, but I just want to do it for fun for a little while, instead of a forced march.

Now I need to figure out what other schools I'd like to apply to. Deadlines will be approaching soon, but for now, I am enjoying my weekend.
